Positions Held
The first official position I had was as delegate to the SCU's quarterly meeting of its National Council where i represented my
Club, Wallacehill CC. This would around 1964/5.
In 1966 I was nominated to represent Scotland at the BCF AGM along with our then President Arthur Campbell and Gerry McDaid. Little did I know but this led to attendance at that meeting for the next 33 years.
In 1976 I was elected to the BCF racing committee which I remained on till 1982 culminating with the World Championships being held in England.
In the Period 1984 to 1982 I served as President of the SCU.
In 1968 I founded and organised the Girvan 3 Day Cycle Race for 23 years on behalf of Wallacehill CC
In 1981 -83 I organised the Scottish Health Race on behalf of the sponsor Scottish Health Education Group'
In 1989 I organised a series of city centre races on behalf of McEwans Low Alcohol Beer
In 1984 I organised the British Amateur Road Championship in Kilmarnock
In 1992 I organised the British Professional Road Championship again in Kilmarnock.
